Are window boards necessary?

Nearing the end of a self build - plastering is completed and there are no window boards in yet.

Can anyone tell me are window boards necessary if the plastering job is good enough? What are the advantages of putting them in?

They kind of finish the window and when it comes to the finishing touches, definitely great for accessorising.
IMO windows would look bare without them, only my opinion and millions others though !

the plaster will crack in time and if you put anything on it. your call but I'd def fit boards.

They usually cover the 'cill, insulation, concrete' detail that you have at a window. the plasterwork would crack if it was laid over this, as different material expand/contract.... plus it leaves it easier to change windows down the line of necessary....
