Are some televisions not suitable for this country?

Hello everyone,

I hope someone can help,
I purchased a 22inch tv (Wharfedale) at argus recently, I notice the channells RTE1&2 TV3, & Tnag are not very good, not as clear as i expected.

the dvd can be seen perfectly, and I am told the playstation2 is good.

I have another television and this workd perfecrlywhen i connect it to the aerial point , so i am happy with the aerial conection.

From memory I recall tvs from england work differently than irish ones, something to do with lines,
In the settings in the tv, uk is mentioned but notireland,
I notice the tv is described as a HD ready Digital LCD TV.

Any ideas?

It's nothing to do with lines. We use the same analog system (PAL) as the UK.

But, the UK analog TV system uses only UHF whereas in Ireland we have some channels on UHF and some on VHF. Some cheaper UK sets are UHF only.

Look at the set that's getting good reception, figure out what VHF or UHF channel its using and set the LCD the same, if you can.
