Are Revenue slower with AVC rebates this year?

Hi,
My wife made a lumpsum AVC payment last October for tax year 07, she still hasn't got the rebate, when asked Revenue say the work is assigned to be done.
Last year she got the rebate before the end of November.

I was wondering if any of you who had made an AVC payment last October had got the rebate yet?
I wonder if Revenue have been advised to "drag their heels" with rebates due to the difficult times the Government is having with tax receipts!

There is a huge backlog in the Revenue at the moment to deal with all the refunds of tax claimed.

You said when she made the payment - when was the claim made?

It is taking 6-8 weeks to process claims at the tax office at the moment, and then longer to issue the refund. Nothing to do with dragging heels though.

However, worth giving the tax office a ring.

I work in tax and apparently the Revenue have been instructed to stretch out the refund process so as to delay the actual payment. I should point out that this is in relation to self-assessment Income Tax returns (Form 11) and may not apply to normal PAYE tax refund claims.
