Are Greyhound collecting "Brown Bins" since DCC transfer?

Has anyone in the Dublin City Council area had their brown bin collected since the "seamless" transfer to Greyhound?

I am suspicious that they are not offering this service any more, despite claims to the contrary.

I know there are a couple of other threads on the Greyhound transfer, but this is a very specific question.

Our brown bin was collected by Greyhound last week on the same day as the black bin collections.

Thanks for the reply. I think I was getting paranoid: I thought they may have stopped collecting brown bins completely. They didn't collect our brown bin (haven't done so since the changeover) last Thursday, and I've been ringing them ever since (talking with people who though pleasant enough, obviously haven't a clue about what's going on). Anyway, they put a revised schedule through the door that made no mention of brown bins, so I feared the worst.

I've just been told however, that this was a mistake - a schedule for people using black bags. The latest is they'll collect the brown bin on Thursday (only a week late, but I guess I should be thankful).

My experience of them to date is that they are the worst service providers of any type I've ever enountered.

Im not sure what the situation is in the Capital City but down the country we have had privatised bin collections for over 10 years and if we are not satisfied with the price or service we are free to move to a different provider.

I think that's what the biggest problem is in this case: we had no opportunity to move. We received literally no warning the change from DCC was happening, and no time or opportunity to investigate alternatives (not that the communication from DCC said there were any alternatives).

If I knew at the start what I know now, there's no way I would have signed up with them.

Ang, they sound the exact same as Thorntons who we use, the call centre has very nice pleasant people in it, but they don't have a clue what's going on and they can do nothing about it if your bin isn't picked up! I also had them not pick up my brown bin 2 weeks ago, even though it was out in time. Thing is nobody else on my stretch of road uses the brown bin, and I'm thinking they didn't even bother driving down the road. I rang anyway and the girl said "well you haven't had a pick up since december so maybe the bin man thought your account was closed'!!! Seriously, don't tell me the bin men are making these sort of decisions!! Anyway, she said she'd check and ring me back - never got a call surprise surprise.

Fast forward to this week and I was paranoid that they would leave it again so we left it out in plenty of time again and I watched out the window for them! They also pick up the black and brown bins on the same day and we had both out. The black was picked up first then thank God the brown was picked up by the other truck - i went out and made sure he was taking it. Seriously the brown bin is minging at the best of times the last thing you want is for it to be hanging around any longer than necessary!

Anyway, glad yours was picked up :)

Compare and contrast with the service from DCC. On the very rare occasions when there was a problem about collections, you could ring and get through to the supervisor/manager of the local depot. He knew exactly what was going on, and could say exactly when they'd be collected.

The way this is shaping up, it will be an inferior service at a higher cost.
