Hi All,

I will be applying for mortgage life insurance in next couple of months and just wanted to know if there may be a problem in my situation.

I am a young and healthy male and a non-smoker.

However my Dad has had some serious health problems, heart-attack and has developed type 2 diabetes.

What is a life insurers stance on this. i know they ask questions regarding family history so am just wondering how big a deal it will be when i apply?

Is there a particular rule of thumb or case by case basis.

Any advice/experience would be appreciated

Just be honest. Failure to disclose this kind of information will lead to difficulty if you ever have to make a claim.

Unless you are appplying for a substantial level of cover you should get automatic acceptance if you personally have no health problems - over certain thresholds, typically €350,000, medical reports and possibly medical examinations are requested as a matter of course. I would reiterate Extopia - please answer every question fully and provide additional details if necessary.
