Any thoughts on the above. Specifically at the moment looking at buying property in Cork. Long term plan to keep property with a view to renting and then available for kids if Cork Colleges attract when time comes (long term kids 5 and 6weeks!) From Cork so know area pretty well. Looking at a number of city centre apts and suburban houses. i guess closer to city better rental potential but house poss better long term prospect if and when time to sell (also no messing about with management companies etc). budget was hopefully 320k which is comfortable for us with mort reqd and top up reqd by us per month in rental/mortgage repayment differential.
Any thoughts or opinions gratefully appreciated.
(Have a house rented in another town no hassles so think maybe just a bit paranoid about apts! justified or just nonsenese?)
Personally I'd go for an old house near city centre / off Barrack St for UCC. Apartments = maintenance fees and management co. hassle. New houses are further out, unless you want to drop a bomb for Deerpark or similiar. Look for Wilton, Glasheen....
Thanks yeah kinda thinking along those lines also like Douglas or Bish but me thinks a bit too pricey at this stage for return i will get. Still with the market a bit slower possibly room for negotiation unlike last place i bought a bit off "if you don't want to pay the asking price plus plenty behind you who will...".
