Hi.

I am looking for advice. I purchased an off plan apartment in Leeds in Oct 2006 I put down a deposit and signed a contract.
I got a phone call today saying that they now what the apartment for another use, and that they will refund my deposit.
Are they able to do this?

I guess it all depends on the contract.

Get onto your solicitor and ask him.

If I was to hazard a guess though I reckon they wouldn't try this stunt unless they knew they were allowed to do so according to the contract.

If it turns out they can do it then i suggest you give ur solicitor a mouthful for not informing you of this possibility occurrring !!

Looking at the headlines in all of tomorrows UK papers (Via Sky News)saying there is a strong chance of UK property crash coming, I would take their hand off.

You want to take the money and get out of it.

Leeds is severely oversupplied. I think Leeds and Liverpool will be the first to crash.

If its city centre get out ASAP.

I think you are right about a blood bath in these cities especially Liverpool. Posted this in another thread especially for apartments. Anyone buying in the North East of England at the moment becuase it's cheap needs their head examined - Middlesborough, worst city in UK according to Location Location Location (Channel 4) loads of Mugs buying here? God help them.
