Anyone using gocar.ie ?

I have seen the gocar.ie cars parked in Sandymount recently. I was surprised to find that they have been on the go since 2008!

How do the rates compare with normal car hire?

For a basic car, €5.99 per hour + 45 cents per KM. (€50 for 24 hour period)

Obviously you can't get normal car hire for an hour or two.

Has anyone got rid of their car and replaced it with gocar? How would the costs compare?

I use it all the time. It's kinda like driving your own taxi really. If you need to drive more than 20 miles it's not really cost efective. Bear in mind you pay €100 a year insurance if you want to avoid the 1k excess and €60 a year. So that's €160 instead of at least €1000+ a year tax and insurance if you had your own car. A weekend drive up the mountains on Saturday and Sunday costs about €50 in total which I use it for every now and then.
