Just wondered if anyone was using an Ecofan with their solid fuel stove? If so, how effective are they? They're about €130 so not willing to take a punt on one without finding out if they actually work and will get more heat out into the room.

There is a Not Easy Being Green forum at:

There may be accounts of people's experience in there, or else you can ask the question.

You did not specify your solid fuel type, I take it it is coal. Please check out if the ecofan will be suitable for you. As Wood pellets/logs/chips are not the same as coal. Just check it out better save than sorry. In the mean time I will ask around for more information.

Just check it out better save than sorry. They are prone to get really hot, temperatures are high and the eco fan gets hot, also when the fan kicks in, with the movement of warm air, when your stove gets hotter so does the eco fan, a moving little windmill may be atractive to children, therefore make sure that children can not reach it. The pricipal is good but due to temperatures you have to be very carefull. In the mean time I will ask around for more information.
