Anyone OK'd for Shared Ownership while working in temp job/contract ?

Spoke to DCC Shared Ownership to day. Explained to them that I work on a contract to contract basis ( I am PAYE) I earn between 36 - 44k per year which I can prove from Revenue. I also have savings of 63k but the guy said don't bother applying 'cos we would have no guarantee that you could pay it back. His point was that I could earn "nothing this year " I find this MAD.
Anyone similar found a way around this.
 
I'm not familiar with shared ownership, but with affordable housing it is generally dependent on what the banks will give you. Maybe it would be an idea to get approval in principle from a bank and then approach the councils? If you have a few good years history with revenue I would have thought that would be proof enough. I know people who were refused and wrote letters and got their property. My advice would be to gather your documentation and don't take no for an answer if you know you have regular income.
 
One of the critera's for the AH is 6 months in permanent employement or 2 years if self employed - this is one of the criteras that sadly is a must in the councils eyes - they will request a letter from your company stating you are permament for the forseeable future
