Anyone else finding AVG is blocking their access to askaboutmoney?

What is the popular free AV software nowadays then?
I have stuck with AVG for years, maybe I am missing out on something.
Like Zenith63, I just use Windows Defender, seems to work well and I've haven't had an issue since windows 10 was launched
But having said that my surfing has evolved over the years and never click on a link or go to a site that looks or feels suspicious

"Microsoft Defender isn't bad, but it's still not enough to fully protect your PC. You don't have to pay extra, though. We’ve tested and ranked the best free antivirus apps."

That's the headline quote from the PCMag article linked to above. I dunno about using multiple anti-virus applications on my computer. When I worked in a PC-orientated world, the system admins tried this and the various bits of tech protection started fighting with each other. I don't know if this was maladministration or if it's common as it wasn't my job to know, but I'd be inclined to find the best in class and rely on it and common sense.

For now I rely on Defender for Mac, which was included with my Office 365 subscription.

Why not macOS's built-in tools?
The majority of those tools are embedded in the OS and work transparently to the user and I'm not even aware of them as they work proactively, preventing malware from getting a foothold on my devices and network. They work so well I'd forgotten about them!

Microsoft Defender came in with Office 365 and got installed with no fuss with Office and it updates itself from time to time. Presumably, as Microsoft Office 365 came from the App Store, it plays well with the embedded MacOS protection measures and is pre-checked. Same with WatchOS, & iPadOS, iOS, and MS Office on those devices.
