Anyone else experiencing delays with AnPost?

I had a friend send me a letter from Dublin to Meath last Wednesday and have yet to receive it. It usually only takes a day.

I've heard it's because of the storm and bank holiday.

Depends, if he posted it after 5.30 on Wed?

Should be with you in morning I'd imagine.

We often get our post on a Tuesday rather than on the Monday, that had been posted the previous week. Dublin/Blackrock.

Had something posted to me last Tuesday and it hasn't arrived yet which is unusual alright, usually would have arrived last Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.

Funnily enough, I've over the years noticed this trend developing in the same area
And it's not that we just don't normally get post on a Monday, it's I don't even see the postman delivering any post on my road on that day

But you do know that part of An Post's justification for last weeks announced price increase is the high proportion of deliveries that arrive next day. Apparently this is what differentiates it from The Royal Mail's 2nd class (also considerably cheaper) stamp and service, so that's supposed to justify the increase!

An Post service is far better than Royal Mail. The occasional letter from An Post might be delayed by a day but with Royal Mail you never know when things will arrive, whether 1st or 2nd class. At one stage in a UK city I lived in, our street was getting Royal Mail deliveries once a fortnight with no warning or explanation.

This is a particular example and hopefully rare off what can happen. However I live in Dublin 12 and although not directly effected by this I have read on Facebook people complaining about the postal delivery in Dublin 12.

I had a letter posted from Cork on 30/12 arrive on 28/1, another posted in Sandyford on 6/1 arrive on 20/1,
Granted there were weather impacts, I do think frequency of delivery in my area Dublin6w is not as I would expect,

Said post arrived today, 2 weeks late! Other post arrived last week on time (i.e. within 2 days of sending) so not sure what is going on or why this one particular item got stuck in the system.

Yes!

For several weeks now, possibly longer, I've suspected that our post is being delivered on a less regular basis. We're Dublin City based.

We received post today, for the first time in about a week.

Coincidently, we received 5 seperate items - all posted within Ireland, some in Dublin, and all dated 13th or 14th February.

We often receive post, sent from within Ireland, about a week after it has been posted, which isn't really good enough, when you've got An Post hiking up postage rates, on a regular basis.
