Anyone been to Rodez?

Thinking of going for a few days - read a review about on a magazine and it was good but dont know anyone that has actually been there.

Any comments, reviews would be welcome!

Passed through as we got cheap flights to there. Didn't see much of the town but what I did see wasn't too exciting! There are some lovely places not too far away like Carcassonne, Beziers etc. If you're getting a good deal, why not give it a bash as I'm sure there are lots of day trips to be taken from it.

As Perplexed says Rodez itself is not too exciting but is a good base for exploring the Aveyron region and beyond. It's a very historic area with loads of old castles, abbeys and walled towns. Think Knights Templar, Crusades and that type of thing.

On a more modern note, not too far away you have the amazing Millau Viaduct.

Rodez Marcillac Airport has recently been renovated to cope with increased traffic but it is still very small. It's a few miles outside the city and very easy to get in and out of.
