Looking at Algarve for hols and came across Quarteira, beside Vallamoura. On the face of it, it seem like a grand spot but anyone been there? Hotels are quite reasonable and seems like a fine beach. All help appreciated.
yes it has a fine beach and a few nice resturants and bars and you can walk along the beach to Vilamoura in 10 mins or so or you can take a taxi to vilamoura around 5 euros. The resturants and bars are cheaper and less busy than vilamoura but good all the same. I hope this helps
Vilamoura would have much more in the way of entertainment and music in bars and later opening than quarteira so if this is what you were looking for then you could go there easily but if it was food and quieter bars then they are in Quarteira
Quarteira is more residential that vilamoura - and has quite a lot of petty crime. Stayed there in 2002 - in the Tulipa Ferias apts. Please don't stay there if thats where you have in mind.
