Hi we are considering purchasing an ikea sliding wardrobe for our spare room, has anyone bought one before? what did you think of the quality? was it hard to assemble? Many thanks

We got these when we moved into our house last year. They are great quality but can't tell you what the assembling was like as we got a guy to do it for us. The only thing I will say is make sure you check each and every product code required for the wardrobes as we ended up having to make about 3 trips to get all the correct bits & pieces. If you call in advance they will be able to tell you if they are in stock.

I'm sure these questions will be asked many times. Not I'm not sure if this site is regional based but you could try [broken link removed]

many thanks for your replys, Nutso glad to hear you were happy with the quality as they seem so much cheaper than other sliding wardrobe options so looks like the road we will head down, do you know what type/make you got? can I ask how much it cost to get it assembled? however hubby fancies himself as a keen DIYer so think he would be disgusted at the thought of paying someone to assemble it. Will also check out the ikeafans website.

I have the Ikea sliding wardrobe, four 50cm wide carcasses with one mirror sliding door and one white sliding door, and various combos of hanging rails, shelves and drawers inside. I'm delighted with it. My Dad and a friend assembled it, so I can't say how easy or hard it was (although my Dad is very good at DIY). I did however rearrange the interior fittings myself, so that was easy enough.

However I would say not to make a final decision on what kind of doors etc you want until you see them in the room sets in the store, as you may change your mind when you get there and see them in real life. I think they have most of the options on display. Each item on display will have a tag with the item number on it, so you can write them down as you go along. Or you can look at the catalogue online, which will give you a starting idea - [broken link removed]

Two things I would say - (1) the mirrors on the mirrored doors are terrific quality (which I wouldn't have expected for the price), and (2) those frosted glass doors look great in the showroom, but as soon as you put your different coloured clothes inside the wardrobe you can see them all, if not quite clear as day then not exactly tidilyl out of sight out of mind either.

We went for the Pax/Komplement in white with frosted doors, I really like the frosted doors, I prefer them to the plain ones. It doesn't bother me that you can see the colours/outlines from the outside when the doors are closed. They are great value compared to fitted sliding wardrobes - we were quoted €3k but these cost about €750 even including for 3 trips travel expenses.

I heard the lady behind this site [broken link removed] doing her stchick on the radio at the weekend.

I got that crowd out to fit my IKEA wardrobes today and must say that I and the OH are very happy with the cost and the actual fitting of the wardrobe. There website is easy enough to use and they called when they said they would..I would definitely use them again..

If you are assembling a wooden item , wardrobe, chest of drawers etc, these are held together with dowels and cam screws. use wood glue even if this is not stipulated, makes everything much stronger. Use one that dries dry and wipe off any excess

so glad to hear everyone is happy with the quality of the wardrobes, when there is such a big difference with the prices it makes you nervous that the quality wont be up to scratch. Many thanks for all the advice
