Any suggestions for La Cala in malaga?

Hi, me and my mum are heading to La Cala in September and we are looking for some adventures to do in La Cala or around, we are willing to hop on a train or spend the night. Has anyone been in or around this area and have any suggestions of where to go. I think mum is saying to head off to marbella for the night, get the train, would you recommend that and if so, is there anything nice to do there please? Or hire a car?

Car Hire would be essential, in my opinion. I find www.holidayautos.co.uk. very good - keen rates & they will refund the Super CDW fee back to your Credit Card at the end of the hire period.
