Any job interview technique consultants or courses?

Situation is a person out of work for three months now. Construction professional - senior in their field. Was with previous company for ten years so no experience of the more senior role type of job interview.

Excellent CV and has been called for a number of interviews, progressing to the face to face stage after passing phone and skype interviews. Jobs are in Europe/middle east so flights and accommodation have been paid for. However, just can't get past that last interview stage.

Is there such a thing as a consultant/course that could help?

Two suggestions;

1) Ask for interview feedback - most organisations are open to giving useful feedback, particularly for senior positions. This will give him something to work on.

2) Is there anyone in his network who is experienced at interviewing for such positions? Get him to set up a mock interview with his contact and a couple of colleagues, and again get feedback. Or better still, video record the mock interview and replay it.

At this stage in the process it is going to be all about soft skills and I doubt that you'll get much feedback from prospective employers on that topic.

As another poster said, it would be a good idea to try some mock interviews and see what happens... if interviewing abroad another factor comes into play culture and culture awareness - working in an international environment is very different to working at home and a candidate that showed little or know understanding of that would be a concern for me, especially if the person was going to be in a senior position.

Somethings missing in your description of events, possibly, but most of these jobs are seeking people who have worked out there before and that's done for a good reason if its in Saudi.
You're living in a compound, with huge restrictions on how you express yourself in public places and on the beach - ultra conservative - its not for everyone.
Perhaps they're picking up something in your friend's demeanour (or their online Facebook Page!!!) that causes then some concern.
