Any handy calculators around for working out CGT?

Greetings

Anyone aware of any calculators available (no jokes please) that will allow me to type in the year and price at which a house was bought, and then show me what it is worth now (after index linking it)?

Cheers

Greetings

Have noticed that both Ishmael Whale's calculator and indeed the "indexing percentages" on the Revenue site only seem to go up as far as 2004. I have searched the Revenue site for 2005 and 2006 figures but to no avail. Anyone know what they are or where they are?

I bought my property in 1998 and intend selling it in 2007.

Cheers

Indexation relief for CGT has been abolished but the pre-2004 indices still apply.

Unless you have a decent awareness of CGT (which for example would include knowing that indexation has been abolished) you should really get professional tax advice on CGT in relation to this transaction. Given the sizeable amounts of money involved, the implications of any error on your part could be serious.

I agree - by all means use calculators such as this to get an estimated of your liabilities but, especially when the figures are significant, get independent, professional advice.
