Any grants to help with startup costs & smooth transition to self employed contractor

I am considering going working for myself as a subcontractor for a courier company.
Im working at present but really need to get out of the place due to the atmosphere and the working environment. My query is this.. are there any grants or schemes that I would be able to access to help with startup costs and smooth the transition to self employed contractor.

I doubt it but your best bet is your local county enterprise board.
