Any comeback on company cancelling our flights?

Hi,
I booked flights on the web last week (not directly with the airline).
I rang the company before I went ahead with the booking to check that it was a non stop flight and to Query tickets etc.
I was satisfied with the info so went ahead and booked 4 tickets online for the flight to Majorca, then I went online and booked our accomadation.

The next morning my husband recieved a phone call from this company saying they were sorry but they had over booked the Flight. They said whoever was responsible for updating the site hadn't done so, and that was that!
We surfed and searched for flights for the same dates and the only flights close to the dates we are going, will cost us an extra 500 Euro. Our other option is to cancel the accomadation and lose 400 Euro deposit.
What angers me even more is if I go back onto the company who canceled our flights and search for those dates it still says those flights are available. Should we have any comeback on this loss...

Regards

Do you have confirmed reserations? Did you actually pay money for these flights or was money deduced from your credit card? Do you have a reservation no or was an e-ticket issued?
If so, you are probably covered by EU air passenger rights, in relation to overbooking and should receive compensation if you are denied boarding.
All the info you need is at:
http://ec.europa.eu/transport/air_portal/passenger_rights/information_en.htm
and the national enforcement body in Ireland is the Commission for Aviation Regulation
