any benefit for jobseekers allowance going back to education?

hi everyoneim on jobseekers allowance and am looking to go back to college.

a family friend has said to me that her husband got £250 for going back to work and said they do the same for education to help get yourself started. i was just wondering if anyone has more information they could share with me and how i would go about claiming it. any help greatly appreciated

I believe you need to be unemployed for a certain amount of time to qualify but afaik you can approach the SWO and fill out forms to apply and they will pay you your benefit while your in full-time education.

The Back to Education scheme is available if you have been on JA for a certain period (6 months for second-level, 9 or 12 months for third-level. If you've be paid redundancy, you can qualify straight away. Check www.welfare.ie under 'back to education'.
