anti-climb paint question?

I live in a new estate that backs on to an older estate and is divided by a boundery wall about 6 feet high my side and 9 feet on the otherside. Some local kids climb over the wall into my back garden and walk up the side of the house, through the front gate and on to school as its a short cut. I've never had an issue with this until now, last night items were stolen from the back of the house and I'm guessing it was kids.

I now want to paint the caps on the wall with anti-climb paint and would like to know can I paint all the caps or just half of them, the half on my side? the otherside of the wall leads to an access alley that services the back of some houses on the older estate. And do I have to put up warning signs? Any ideas?
 
I believe that the wall needs to be atleast 6 feet high, which you have however I also believe that you need to get permission from the garda.

Spoke to the gardai, they said as long I don't put broken glass/ barbed wire etc, then its fine!

Sounds like messy stuff.

I am not affiliated with the supplier; internet searches are very handy, they came to of the list with a ".ie".

done a search myself after my last post and say that site - also came across a couple of .ie sites that stated you could only use it 2M up from the ground by law.
 
To quote from product blurb, "Note: Not to be used on areas within legitimate daily reach, e.g. within 2.1m above ground level."

I knew about the restrictions on glass, razor-wire and so on, but this is a new one on me I have to admit. It seems to imply that its OK to climb a 1 mtr or 2 mtr garden wall and you cannot deploy discouragement technology below about 7 ft.

Does antone know the legal position on this ? (hopefully thats not OT).
 
truthseeker, bought paint in B & Q, it was 14.95 for 750ml. that covered five caps, they are 3ft x 1ft.
mathepac, its real messy, had to scoop it out with a spoon and smear it along. it washes off hands easily though.

Thanks DavyJones - im kinda surprised it washes off hands easily!!! Presumably its worse on clothes.
 
My neighbours have used this stuff on a wall that is only about 6 ft high and as far as I know they checked with the local Gardai before using it.
Could you maybe talk to the owners of the house on the other side of the wall to see if they agree to letting you painting the lot. If not then I'd stick to just painting whats on your side...it should still work as I doubt anyone would be able to climb over the wall only touching half of it. Good luck

So whose walls were you climbing over then, you little vandal you? Personally I don't bother with other people's walls as I wind up climbing my own a lot of the time.

Some of those paints have a UV marker in them. Check out your hands and clothes on your next night-club visit.

Just came accross this thread, does any one know where I can get some legal info on applying this on public property?

But it states that the product is no longer available.

As the product never dries, Im wondering what happens if someons slips on it. Who is liable?
