Hi there,

I'm new to this forum and also to signing on.

Two wks ago I got back from travelling so I signed on the dole y-day (I left full time employment in Nov 06 to go travelling and I'm now back since Jan 18th), just wondering, I have been actively seeking work since I got back so I have proof of applications I've made by email, the woman in the SW office told me I am signed on as of yesterday but she would back date it by two wks once I can prove that I have been seeking work.

Today I've been offered a job I've accepted it. I still don't have a start date for the job so at the moment I am still unemployed, will I still get the money would anyone know

Thanks for any replies:)

I presume that you will be paid up to the day that you start the new job if you otherwise meet the relevant qualifying conditions?

Thanks for the reply,

When I was in there yesterday she did think I met the requirements to claim. I'll go over now with the rest of my documents and see what happens. Hopefully I'll still get it as I'm broke, 1st time I aint had a wage in Ireland in 10 years so thankful it hasn't lasted too long:)

Cheers again

Sorry but...why didn't you budget properly to cover your first 3 to 4 weeks when you returned from travelling around?

It's a shame you didn't sign on immediatly you came and started looking for work. (Water under the bridge now).

Assuming you qualify under the criteria your payment should apply from the 4th day after signing on ie. Sign on Monday - first day of payment is Thursday.

Lets say your new job starts Monday March 3rd then you can either pop in to Social Welfare on Friday afternoon to sign off or phone them on Monday. You would be paid up to and including that Friday.

Good luck in the new job
