Annuitys - where to start and what age is earliest you can buy one ?

Hello , I wonder might anyone know what is the earliest age that somebody could buy an annuity from a company either in Ireland or the UK ? And where should one go to start ? I have been trying to research these as they seem a very good idea in my situation , but most of the websites I have seem to be only for those reaching retirement. Are there any companies offering anuitys for people lower than retirement age ?

Would be very grateful for any suggestions on places to look for more information on annuitys and where I could get one ?

In many cases, annuities for younger people are poor value - so much so that you'd be better off putting the money on deposit and drawing an income from it.

Can you expand a little on why you think they're a good idea for you?
