Hi,

I've recently bought a 1960 side board, a friend of mine told me that chalk paint would be the right job for this unit!
I am going for a retro look (painted white unit with green doors).

However I put the first coat of chalk paint on today and I'm really not happy with the look (or how it goes on), I don't like the brush marks it leaves and it was very patchy looking with the old wood coming through, I put a second coat on (as advised in the shop) and it still doesn't look great IMO!
I only used this stuff as my friend thought it would look good so I knew nothing about it before hand.

My question is, can I now use a bin primer straight over this then paint as normal (using a roller this time) ?

Thanks

I think that the old wood is supposed to be coming through. I painted a number of kitchen chairs using a similar paint and I think they look great with the imperfections.

I'm sure some furniture does look great... It just wasn't the look I was going for and didnt realise till the paint was on,
Still wondering can I use a bin primer over this to "start afresh"

I could imagine it looking well for the more antique look but not retro.
