American camcorders work with Irish TVs?

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a digital camcorder from Amazon.com as there is a hefty price differential between .co.uk and .com
Here is the US one
http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-PV-GS320-Camcorder-Optical-Stabilized/dp/B000M4LXIW/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-7069496-1647363?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1194328752&sr=8-1

And here is the UK one
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-N...4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1194328833&sr=8-2

Will the camcorder I order from the states be the exact same? I realise they have slightly different names but are they not essentially the same?

I'd be very grateful for any help you could give me.
Thanks

All American camcorders are NTSC standard. European models are PAL video standard.

They will generally playback on Irish TV's but you will have great difficulty transferring to a Pal DVD recorder. You will need to buy an digital converter.

If you are editing on a computer you will have to edit in NTSC and output in NTSC.

In summary, don't waste your money. Buy a Pal standard if using in Europe and buy an NTSC if using in USA

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply ely. Should've known there'd be a catch!
