Am I eligible for Mortage Supplement?

I've just posted another thread about being unable to continue working due to the fact that I took a huge cut in salary when I got a new job recently. I really thought I could manage, but as a single parent, I'm finding it a huge struggle.

so my question is would I be eligible for mortgage supplement from my CWO? My mortgage is only 9 months old and in arrears already. I've made an agreement with them to pay back my arrears monthly over the next few months. They didn't seem very happy about this because it is such a new morgtgage.

And if I'm eligible, who do I approach first? My CWO or my mortage provider to advise them of my circumstances??? Thank you

Hi Ward,

can I suggest you move this thread to the Welfare and State Benefits forum - you'd probably get the quickest answer there.

Entitlement to mortgage interest supplement will depend on your current income, and the circumstances of the mortgage - were you able to afford it when you took it out, and what level of arrears are there (both criteria can disqualify from the supplement).

You should get an application form from the CWO (or download it from www.welfare.ie), fill it out, ask your lender to complete the appropriate section and return it to the CWO.

There's more information available here
