Health Insurance Alternatives to PMI 35 13 for 39 y/o male

Hi,

VHI have informed me that they will be moving me from PMI 37 13 to PMI 35 13 at my upcoming renewal.

This new plan appears to have considerably lower private cover, for higher fees (€1,366 this year compared to €1,197 last year).

Am I being screwed? Are there any alternative policies I should look into?

I have no preexisting conditions, but I would like reasonable private cover if I needed it.

I am currently on Essential Health 300 - I've compared that to your plan and it's a little cheaper (€1097). It only covers the Beacon in the high-tech hospitals but has good cover throughout the other private hospitals and better than most I have compared it to for a similar price. Max excess is €300 x 2 times per year. It doesn't have day to day cover if that is important to you.

Have you tried comparing the two plans on the hia.ie comparison tool, and maybe have a look at competitor's options too?

Take a look at PMI 0710. Very similar to PMI 3513 but cheaper at €1311.98. Main difference is Outpatient Policy limit...€3200 for PMI 3513 and €1000 for PMI 0710.
