All,
I am looking for a recommendation to sell a property abroad that will expose me to the English or European market.

While the lay out and flexibility of daft is second to none my feeling is that is does not offer international exposure as an ie web site.

Has any one had any success in selling foreign property on alternative sites and if so which sites offer the best exposure?

Appreciate any recommendations.

Re: Alternative to daft

Just search for property for sale in the country you have property in - then choose from the companies in the top 5 search results. Try different searches - such as houses for sale in......, villas for sale in..... If the same site keeps appearing - they would be worth condsidering. Or look at the ads on Google in the same searches. If companies are actively advertising on Google - they might be a wise choice too.

Many of the cross border purchasers of property for "investment" or holiday homes in the past 10 years or so were Irish or British. Now is not a good time to try to sell something to the British market because the pound has gone down against the Euro. This, together with the recession which is likely to occur throughout the whole of Europe has reduced demand for such properties so now is not a very good time to be trying to sell such a property.

Hello Steve.
Thank you for your reply. While I accept that now is not a good time to sell property abroad my question was could anyone recommend a site other then Daft to advertise property Aborad. Ideally with Exposure to the European and English market?

If you visit [broken link removed] they give a pretty good listing of overseas property portals in various areas, although they are mainly from the UK and Spain.

I live in the UK and had planned to sell up here and move back to Ireland and have been looking for the right property for the past 3 years. My source for available properties has been Daft and the more local estate agents in the West (i.e. I would not look on an English or European website for Irish properties). As Steve has pointed out, there is very little happening in terms of buyers from UK. Why? (a) one Euro costs 10 English pence more today than it did 3 years ago (b) anyone who would buy a house in Ireland at the moment would need their head examined as prices appear set to fall for at least another 2 years.

If you want to attract a buyer from outside Ireland, Daft is (I would say) the best option. However as has been pointed out already, there is very little movement in the market. I have been 'tracking' a shortlist of 83 properties in the Western counties for over a year. The rate of sales is on average 1 a month - and of course it is unclear what kind of reduction on the asking-price this has entailed. 'Ruins' (under-100K building projects with from between 2 - 5 acres around them) are the ones that move after about 12 - 18 months.

Hello Marie,
I may not have made myself clear. I have foreign(Turkey , Europe) property that I wish to sell and am wondering what web sites give you most exposure to the European, English and Turkish property purchasers.
A lot of English have been attracted to Turkey in recent years so that is primarly why I mentioned the English.

There are loads:
[broken link removed] ( Worldwide leads)
( Worldwide leads but Irish based).
www.propertyworld.com ( Worldwide leads).
www.kyero.com (Worldwide leads, more for Spanish properties.)

There are so many of them out there at this point in time it is difficult to decide which one nowadays. Daft and Myhome only really lists in Ireland - so mainly Irish buyers. Righmove, Lead Galaxy tend to be more UK based leads whereas the top mentioned ones have leads from all over. The best portals are the ones that are on several websites worldwide not just their own.

Have you tried they have a very large private seller database and as they also have over 300 websites your property is shown across them all for the same one off fee.

Hi Marie,
Are you still looking for a property in the west of Ireland? I have a completely renovated cottage near Miltown Malbay, Co Clare for sale. I have reduced the price from 250,000 euros to 199,995. Lovely country views, not isolated. sandy

Sandy

I think you may have to drop your price again to sell
