Alleged Forbes magazine survey

I received a phone call yesterday - and I think there were several other calls in recent weeks when I was not at home - from some Dutch-sounding guy claiming to work for some Italian finance company saying that the survey which I completed earlier this month entitled me to a free subscription to Forbes magazine but before he told his secretary to send it (it was all ready to go, apparently), he just has a few questions for me..... I didn't complete any survey but he had my e-mail address (gmail) - and my home phone number. How can they get these? If I ever complete surveys, I use a shadow e-mail address and NEVER disclose my phone number, yet this guy got the phone number and my real e-mail address from somewhere. I couldn't shake him off, so I just hung up. What gives?

SOunds like they have some information on you, and they want to fill in the gaps by adding your address and maybe bank information. Steer clear, or better still, turn the tables on them by getting their numbers/emails/website.
