Aldi log splitter

Hi: I wonder has anyone any views on the log splitter that Aldi are offering at the moment:Is there anyone who has bought it now or on previous offers and if so what was your experience ? I am using logs in an open fire which I light about three times a week. The fireplace is relatively small so the volume of timber required is low. I would appreciate any comments.

I am unaware of the term "log splitter" - is this a euphemism for an axe?
 
Personally, I would rather split logs with an axe, especially if the volume of logs to be cut is quite small.
 
The Aldi log splitter is something like an axe but has a much heavier and broader head, thus its impact is greater and it is designed to open a split in the log rather than cutting. Just imagine an axe with a wide and heavy head.

I bought the Aldi splitter recently and have found it to be excellent for splitting logs for daily use in my wood burning stove. It seems to be sturdily built and it really does the job.
 

After 2 years they surely have the logs split by now!
