Aldi DVD/HDD Recorder - problems

I recently bought a DVD/HDD Recorder in Aldi and am having several problems.

1. when you are recording a channel, you can't watch another channel on the TV as the picture of the channel taping is moving round and round the screen with the newly selected channel sound on (sorry hard to describe)

2. when trying to tape to a DVD, the recorder only recognises half of the DVD space as available, even though it is a new DVD.

3. also when setting the recorder to tape several programmes in advance, it doesn't seem to be able to switch to the different channels selected ie. set to ITV at 7.30, BBC1 at 8.00 and ITV at 8.30 - it tapes all three from ITV.

Has anyone else bought this particular recorder from Aldi and is having the same problems? Any help would be appreciated.

Don't Aldi/Lidl consumer electronics goods generally come with a "free" 1-3 year warranty and a free support number that you can call for assistance? Why not try that?

I bought one of these and had problems with it. I posted details of the problems on this thread http://www.askaboutmoney.com/showthread.php?t=12637&page=1

and brought the recorder back to Aldi for a refund, which I received no problem. However, I now see that my posts, which were factual statementson the problems with the Aldi dvd recorder, have been removed from the thread. Anyway, I’ve since bought the Sony 710, no problems so far.

Are you sure that you don't mean this thread and that your accusations of posts being deleted are actually unfounded?

Does that mean that you were incorrect in claiming that posts of yours were deleted? I can't find any moderator record of any posts of yours about Aldi DVD gear being deleted as would normally be the case if this had, in fact, happened.

Hi PMU,

I have had a look at the thead you referred to and am unable to find any evidence of posts being deleted.
