Airtricity -customer 'service'

We switched over to Airtricity from ESB, filled in all the forms, including a direct debit mandate, and waited to hear back. Got the first e-bill and thought all was tickety-boo.

Received 2 letters from them on Wednesday. Apparently, the DD mandate was rejected by the branch (not allowed on a deposit account, despite there being 2 other DDs on same account, but that's a different issue), so Airtricity went for the nuclear option and ..

- informed us that we were no longer eligible for the discount available to people paying by DD
- added €300 to the bill, in respect of the 'rejected' DD

All of this was initiated without getting back to us about the 'rejected' mandate. My wife got on the phone to them and harangued them into backing down. She gave them her current account for the DD mandate and they've 'reversed' the €300 sanction.

Maybe this should be in LOS, but I can't believe how pants their customer service is.
