Airlock in water system

Hi

The tank in the attic emptied as the council were working on the mains near my house. The tank has since refilled but there is no water in the taps/toilets etc. Is this an airlock?

How do I remedy this?

I had this happen recently.

I got a small piece of hose & stuck it up the hot & cold taps.
Open both valves then & the water from the hot tap will run up the cold tap pipes to the tank in the attic & clear the air-lock.

Verry ingenious. We used to get this problem - my husband had to blow up the cold tap in the bathroom - this also worked. But was trickier to do than your way.

By cold it is the mains cold water that will push the water back up.
If you have a mixer tap in the kitchen just cover the spout and the water will flow from the cold back up the hot and hopefully clear any airlock.
