Airline refund?

Had to fly to Galway yesterday on business. Took the morning flight and while checking in I took the opportunity to book myself on the return flight for later that eveing at 19:30.

Rang Galway airport that afternoon as weather had gotten bad and was told flight was delayed until 21:30. Rang again laer and was told it was delayed until after 22:00 as the incoming flight had not yet landed.

Instead of running the risk of the flight not leaving Galway that evening I took the 18:30 train back to Dublin.

Have I any come back on a refund for my fair on the flight back to Dublin?

I would say no .. as the flight did operate albeit delayed and the delay was weather related so outside the airlines control... However check your ticket it may be a refundable ticket (if it's a full fare "Y-Fare" or similar ) in which case you might be alright (though the fact that you had already checked in for the flight might complicate it)
