AIB to raise by Mortgage Rates by 0.50% (29/03/10)

I have an offer from AIB recieved in the post last Friday 26th March for a fixed rate mortgage at the old lower rate.

Will AIB withdarw this offer now and re-issue with the revised rate or stand by it?

They will withdraw it, as per your terms and conditions, the fixed rate that you will be on is the rate prevailing on the day that you draw down your mortgage cheque.

Not all rates have gone up 0.5% - just the "standard variable". LTV variables go up by 0.34%. Fixed rates - vary.

And I assume that the tracker mortgage I have with AIB will remain unchanged, since it tracks the ECB Base Rate which isn't changing?

Yes - tracker rates are unchanged. They will only change if/when the ECB rate changes.

this is decision time ive not being looking forward to, cause Im really bad with rates etc.

Im with Haven...should I fix or stay variable? I assume they will follow suit to all the other banks increasing their rates

What variable rate are you on? What are Haven's fixed rates? - I think it would be very difficult to switch lenders at this time.
