AIB online banking shutting down Chrome

I am trying to send money to another Irish account from my AIB account using my laptop.

I enter the payees information.

There is a new screen "anti-fraud measure" where you have to tick the purpose of the payment and then tick a box to say you understand and then press continue and it closes down my entire Chrome session.

I thought I had done something wrong, so I did it again and it happened again.

It was at this point, when I clicked Next that it crashed the browser.

I reported the matter to webchat and they told me to clear my cache. But as I had already made the payment, I was not going to do it again.

@jhegarty

Did you make a payment to a new person just to check it out?

I had to make a payment this morning anyway , so decided to check it out when I saw your post. It was an international payment.

I had another payment to make this afternoon.
Shut down Chrome as before - not just the AIB session.
Then I deleted the cache as advised by AIB.
Closed Chrome.
Tried again - same result.

Switched to Firefox and worked fine.

So I am not stupid after all.

I got a call from AIB security about an unrelated issue and I raised this with them and they told me that there was a bug in the most recent Chrome update. Google has released a fix in the last few minutes.

Their call centre was not aware of it.

Not sure when my Chrome updates?

Sounds like a browser issue with Chrome. Check your Chrome version - it has been updated recently (and caused some problems in my work) but everyone may not be on the same version yet. Its usually pushed automatically and updates when you start a new session.
