AIB have launched anew credit card with an interest rate of 8.5%APR. This offer is not an introduction offer.

The rate of interest charged should really be academic if you clear your bill each month before interest charges kick in. As such one CC is much the same as another in this respect if used properly. The T&Cs don't clarify the forex margin charged on non € transactions. If it's above 1.75% then there are better deals out there. Good to see that (like PTSB VISA and maybe other cards but certainly not all other cards!) cash advances are not charged interest from the time that they are made if cleared by the normal billing period.

And: "The cash advance fee will apply for accounts in debit and in credit."
Definitely not the best deal.

Missed that. Not good either as you say.

These sort of features/charges should be the ones that people concentrate on in my opinion. They should really avoid paying the headline interest on balances by clearing their CC each month before interest kicks in. CCs should be used as a cashflow management tool and not for borrowing on (other than during the normal credit/billing period or when there is a 0% balance transfer period or whatever).

But for those not able to clear their balances each month, the 8.5% rate is very good as opposed to the majority (if not all?) credit cards on the market.
Good deal imo,as long as you dont use it to access cash, or use it outside the Euro zone.
