AIB contactless

Hi guys.

I have a student current account with AIB and I often use the contactless feature where you can pay for items by just tapping your card. I used this twice which gave me a negative account balance of around €8 but I believe you can use this feature several times, spending a max of €15 each time , even if you have insufficient funds or a negative balance but you obviously need to put the money back into your account asap so they can take it. Can anyone clarify this?

As far as I'm aware, no balance check is done during a contactless payment.
Also, I think AIB don't usually give contactless cards to student account holders, because of this.
