Hi people
How long does the whole process take from when you put the application in to being offered a house?

any advice please.
thanks

It depends on which council you apply to. I got my house thru Fingal and the whole process took around 1 year to complete. Now I went with the first property I was offered so depending on what your looking for from the council it could take longer.

Hi Cirbir,

I sent in my application in July and found the apartment I wanted and put a deposit on it on the 30th september. Should get the keys in the middle of November.

I can go very quickly.. you do need to be constantly e-mailing and ringing them though.

Thanks b1311

I applied in April and i email nearly every week about stuff and i hope im not annoying them. viewing houses this week its my first time doing this now even though i go looking myself at them.

that sounds great very positive timing. would love to have it by christmas it would be perfect.

Hope all goes well with you and your apartment!!

Hi,

I applied i think in january or february this year. Till August i hear nothing of them. And then i started calling and emailing them. I know evryone's name over there now :p and they know me. Anyway...After calling calling calling they sent me letter of the available houses and i sent it back to them and got viewings from them. And now just waiting for the keys of my house. It will take about 3-4 months they said. Lets see what will happen

Hey mystry4all which house are you going for ? I applied and got approval this month (oct ) , they sent me the list & I returned it, although i see those Santry & Oldtown ones on website now. Will I wait to hear back or start ringing etc ? I don't want to annoy them but i really want a house !!
Very best of luck in your new home :)

No...before the viewings of D15 i already liked the duplex in swords and had gone for it. Lucky i'm. But Audi listen The viewings of D15 were last week i think. Did you miss them?

Check out OLDTOWN, that's coming up....I dont know where it is located.

yes i missed them, god knows how long ill be waiting now. yeah i was thinking about oldtown, they have 3 bed houses which is what im looking for. think its out by st margarets

But the prices of them arent confirmed yet....call them and ask them to put you on the list for them.

Hi cirbir. Sorry for taking so long to reply. Getting on fine at the mo. Honestly though when I see house prices nowadays I kick myself for getting a house thru affordable scheme. Two years ago it seemed like the only way to get on the property ladder. The houses are usually on the small side. My advice is think long and hard before you commit. If you have no other option at all then go ahead. If you are going to have children then you need to factor this in as you can't really sell the house without having to pay a clawback for 20 years. Space may become an issue down the road. Like I said I'm only in my place 2 years and already I'm worried over space! (money's tight at the mo as well and I feel that my once affordable house is not so affordable any more but as the housing market is stagnant at the mo and because I'd have to pay the clawback selling isn't really an option for me so I'm stuck) Yes, think long and hard.

thanks sparkle82

thats some good advice i know they are usually on the small side and the prices are high enough, my problem is is that we could have it fast im not thinking properly about it, think il just save hard for a year and get a deposit together,

thanks so much you made me think alot.

Is anyone going to see Boru Court, Swords on wednesday ? Has anyone heard anything about them
