Age or mileage, which depreciates a car more

What's better, an Audi a4 tdi from Jan 2008 with 15'000 miles (24'000km)

or

an identical Audi a4 tdi from December 2008 with 29'000 miles (47'000km)
(full service history)

If both cost the same, which should I take ?

There is 11 months more manufacturers warranty on the newer car, but more wear and tear because of the mileage (kilometerage)

on balance for this car I'd say buy on condition not mileage if it's a diesel, with petrol, I'd place more emphasis on mileage

I would say it depends on how long you intend to keep the car.

If you are going to keep it until it is virtually worthless, then go for the one with the lower mileage as it should last longer, all other things being equal.

Evena as I type this i think either way the one with lower mileage is better as they are both "2008" cars, so if in say three years time you are looking to sell, the month of registration will have very little effect.

New shape + warranty = the one to buy
A difference of 14k miles is not a whole lot in a car that should be able to do 200k miles
