Affordable housing - standard rig out...

Hey,

I've just been offered a house under the affordable housing scheme. I was of the opinion that with any offer the house just comes as standard, but two friends of mine told me that they thought that the County Council provides such items as flooring and tiles....has anyone any knowledge of this?

Thanks.

Not from my knowledge of any of the ones I viewed anyway .
Maybe others have found a different story but I don't think for one minute they'd be doing your floors for you !

I think they are confusing an Affordable house with a traditional Corpo house, which you rented.

Towger

The house I've accepted comes with cooker & hob. I also know that the apartments up in Erris Square came with all main kitchen appliances as well as the bathroom and kitchen being fully tiled. But these were on the initiative, not the scheme.

It can also depend on the actual development, as to what the builder is offering.

I think it depends.
The one i viewed came with tiling in the bathroom but nothing anywhere else and no electrical pack whereas 'normal' apartments in the same development came with a tiled kitchen & electrical pack.

Thanks folks....I hadn't expected anything surplus to standard to be installed...ugh, trips to D.I.D and TC Mathews are back on the cards!

My apt came with all kitchen appliances/fire installed in sitting room/bathroom and kitchen tiled. Happy days! Havent heard this with many other developments and this was the Initiative and not the Scheme!

Mine came with refrigerator/freezer, stove/oven, dishwasher, washer/dryer, kitchen tiles (floor) and bathroom tiles (wall and floor).

It didn't come with other flooring, kitchen sink plug, shower head or the thing that you stick inside the roll of toilet paper to keep it from falling out of the roll dispenser

As always, it's helpful to mention which Council you bought your property from (I'm in DCC).

...toilet roll holder ??:p

Seeing as we got a hell of alot of stuff included...i dont really mind splashing out on a sink plug or toilet roll holder haha!!:D

Oh I did. I just can't work out why they put in a toilet roll dispenser but didn't include the yoke that holds the roll up. As far as I can tell, nobody sells that piece individually!

It depends on each County Councils builders they have chosen to devlop their houses.

KCC AH scheme, their builders in particular gave the same tile allowance as the houses not built under the AH scheme, which was quite nice.

I'm with Meath County Council and the offer was for a house in Dunboyne Castle.

I'm meeting the County Council rep for a viewing tomorrow at 11am so I should know more then, I'm not getting my hopes up just in case it comes with nothing!
