Re: affordable housing initiative

Have a look at my post on Balrothery im trying to buy under AHI .

As far as i can see

Good points
1 Move a lot faster i was waiting 3 months from application to offer
2 I think most of the properties are a bit bigger than those on the AH.

bad point
1. Reduced discount/clawback should be around 26%

Re: affordable housing initiative

thanks mufflet... i got mortgage approval 2 weeks ago for 251k but cant get anything anywhere i want for that.. apartments coming up beside where i grew up for 260 and 280k on the affordable housing initiative..i rang fingal for first time on monday and they sent me the forms to fill in, said they cant see any probs if i've already had motgage approval fom the bank and they've set up a group viewing for 29th march. theres 7 apartments up for grabs..fingal said bring 3k with me on the day and its first come first served... was this how it worked for you? seems all a bit to easy!

I think your laughing shola i was bank approved for only €200K before any offers, a good mortgage agent should be able to push your approval out to €280k (pm me ill give you the details of mine if you want ).
but yes it happened just like that for me. arrived, shown properties, pick one, i was on my own and shown 6 different houses, a friend being offered in the same development were being shown with other couples and they picked their house a few seconds before the other couple wanted it, so id say go aerly or even have one chosen before you go.

Ps you are very likely to run in to my issues later, but thats another days work for you.

i'd love to get the number of your mortgage agent.. an extra ten would mean we could go for the more expensive apartments which are bigger and in a nicer area..but to be honest, i couldnt believe i was offered 251k in the first place..worth a shot i suppose...and so youve no regrets about going for an affordable home?

Im on the ah initiative too, have been waiting a along time to get somewhere close-ish to the area that has that open day on the 29th and after getting a call last week from Fingal and the estate agent to be told 1st come 1st served has made my blood boil.
After hearing this from the estate agent i quickly rang fingal back to be told yes your 2nd on the list behind a girl who made the list 2 months before you, but i said how does the list work if im told 1st come 1st served, i couldnt get an answer, so im just stuck with it.They wouldnt give the details of the girl ahead of me so i could ask her feelings on the matter.
I grew up in that area and have been waiting along time to get offered a property there, whats the point in having a list if the estate agents dont recognise it, seems very unfair.
Anybody got any advice, thoughts on my plight?

Hi

I was told that when i went for BSQ,but i thought people would be there a few hours early so i got there 3 hours early to be told i was way down the list as they gave out numbers to people that where there over nights queing up..
