Affordable Housing Allocation

Hi

Does anyone know how those apartments allocated to the ppl who got an offer? what i mean is, when the builder built the place, do they give the apts such like the ground floor, or smaller size ones to the affordable housing, and sell the better and bigger ones to the public?

Thanks!

It's been my observation and experience that affordable house hunters are second class citizens. In a development you can be fairly certain that the less well positioned and smaller units will be allocated as affordable. Local Authorities should be much more vigourous in ensuring that at least some of the best units are affordable. You are much more likely to get a 2 bed terrace than a 3 bed semi for example! I was once offered an affordable house inches away from an extremely busy train line!

PS to the above.............. I'm still waiting for an affordable home in Shrewsbury Road, Ballsbridge!!!!!

thanks for the info. ah ballsbridge? wanna one of those myself. lol. best of luck.

i was thinking of that they prob allocate the worst apts to the AH = (

Got offered two cancellations only i.e. the last apt of developments. The two I was offered were on the ground floor with no patio, balcony or garden compared to the rest of the development. One apt had two windows that opened on a graffitti covered laneway this development was not gated no security. Show apartment had a much better fit out and all.
The second one I viewed was also on ground floor opposite main entry gate. again no private patio, balcony etc compared to other apts in the same development.
I was never offered a choice of apartment.
My friend got offered affordable housing last year with Dublin City and she got a pick of 4 on 1st or second floor. She choose 1st floor!

Think it depends if you are successful in draw or if you are on the reserve list.

hi,also when we were choosing our apartment, because we were the last we had a choice of alot of good ones. The people who were already moved in did not have the same choice as we did because we think they were trying to get rid of a certain batch, there were ones on the ground floor that were a lot smaller, but were told this was all there was left,so sometimes if they give you an option in a development you cannot be sure that they are the only ones because they try get rid of a number first, our neighbours were not offered out type apartment.

mmm i thought they might tell you that, thats all what is left, so wont give u any choice. so u have to take it, or if you dont, sure someone else will. or do DCC really give ppl a choice of apts to whom was in the draw first? so the last ppl in the draw have to take the last apt. unless someone pulls out.

has anyone got offered and had a choice of 2 or 3 apts here?
