Aer Lingus+changing a booking

I booked return flight only for 2 adults to Bulgaria with Aer Lingus from Oct 1- Oct 8, total cost= 217 Euro, unfortunately have to go into hospital now at that time so tried to change my tickets to mid September and they want a further 364 Euro off me!!!!!! bear in mind that 2 tickets for Sept. are advertised at 343 Euro total. So for just a change in date they want to charge me 364 Euro.
