Aer Dart Bus Stopped

This bus ran from Howth Junction station to the airport. It was great for people working at the airport and people going on holidays and also for tourists. It was a very reguluar service and all my family would use it when we where going on holidays. Yet they had to stop service for a few months due to no trains at the weekend at howth junction. It is bad enough that there is no trains but to then get no use of this bus during the week either is very bad. No other country would let a train service close completely for nearly a year (on the northside)and offer no alternative a bus on this route.

AFAIK it was the DART upgrade works that put paid to it. And the bus lane on the N32 from Clare Hall to the M50 remains in effect even though there is no longer a scheduled bus service on that road.

I am so going to vote for the current coalition parties next election ;) .

I tried to use it last March without success.

The DART ticket office was closed and the ticket selling machine
didn't sell integrated tickets for it even though the airport was
listed as a destination.

In the end I bought a normal ticket to Tara St and got the 747 bus to the airport.

While I do look forward greatly to the removal of the current Govt (I'm a Labour party member), I do think it's a bit OTT to blame the Govt for every operational decision of every semi-state body.

Liverlips - Have you contacted CIE/Dublin Bus to understand why they cancelled the service? Perhaps it was simply not viable?

While I would normally agree with your first point, I feel in this case it is justified to kick the Government after Junior Minister Callely went on radio to defend the existence of a bus lane while there are no scheduled bus services on the road.

Also, AFAIK it is not a CIE/Dublin Bus service - it is a commercal operation and, having no access to Howth Junction DART station at the weekends, means the numbers can not add up.

Also also, Howth Junction is not convenient for those hauling luggage.
