Advice on repainting bathroom ceiling

Hi.

I need to repaint my bathroom ceiling - some of the existing paint is flaking, presumably due to the general dampness from the shower etc. Also, the extractor fan was out of order for a while until I replaced it.

I can easily remove any loose paint, but how do I repaint without the ceiling looking like a mini-moonscape, with lots of craters where the old paint was ?

Also, is the best paint to use the one advertised as "suitable for kitchens and bathrooms" ?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi,
I saw some special paint in Atlantic Homecare for exactly this type of problem. It is thick and will cover minor imperfections (Look in the Polyfilla section). Then you can paint over it with whatever paint you like. The kitchens and bathroom paint does work well in a steamy area.

Thanks for those replies - will look for that paint you mention, Cligereen.

Aniya - have to say I would only consider stippling as a last resort - and think it might encourage condensation in a bathroom.
