The 8% is statutory - the only way to sort it is to (1) pay off the debt so that it stops accruing or (2) try to do a deal on a payment schedule so that even though interest accrues, the creditor won't pursue it.
Most creditors would prefer a once off payment to clear debt than a schedule that is likely to be broken. Mind you, if the debtor has funds ( some of them do) and is just being a prat, a creditor will not give any discount.
Thank you, as it is not an option to clear the debt probably best to contact the bank and request them to agree a monthly amount even though it will take years and block them from getting away from a sub prime to a mainstream lender for the mortgage. Many thanks.
