Advice Needed Self - Employed

Hi

I am just writing to see if anybody could give me any advise in relation to the above title, a friend of mine is undergoing chemo and radiation for pancreatic cancer, he is totally floored at the min with all the treatment, and with his company. His two businesses are in retail but he is not drawing an even small wage from them, most money that comes in is paid to the sheriff or too staff wages, the sheriff came about with bills that he had fallen behind on. He has been told that he can get no social welfare help as he is self employed, he faces eviction today from his rental property as he cannot keep up with his rent, he literally has no money to eat or pay bills, is there nothing that can be done anywhere, it seems like an awful lot of added pressure that he shouldnt really be going through especially with all the treatment he has been receiving.

Can anybody shed any light or is there an avenue available to him??

I think he should contact local community welfare officer. You should get no. from social welfare.

Thanks a million for getting back to me, yeah he has tried his community welfare officer numerous times but always told no, he filled out a form for disability allowance that got declined too, sometimes this country seems so crazy its not even funny!!!! I will try the link that you have sent me and hopefully they may be able to do something, as the stress is burying him now at this stage and not the cancer which is an awful thing to say..
