Due to a new job i need to upgrade my car as I will be doing a lot of driving. I rang my bank and they said they couldn't proceed with it as I had not been employed for the last 6 months. I have had a good history saving with the credit union but my account has been sub 100 for the last couple of years. I dont live near my local branch anymore so i haven't been saving with them. I have never had any loan before, I have a credit card which i have always paid off. Usually I save to buy whatever i want but this time i need a car asap and i really don't trust the one i have to drive me to the 4 corners of the country.
So basically I'm wondering is there any chance of me getting a loan anywhere? My credit history should be good and the loan will be under 10% of my salary.
+1 as banks will generally only give loans to people that can be trusted !
OP The CU might still be your best bet for a personal loan - otherwise HP through a bank imo
I actually live in a different county now but ill see can i get to the CU on Saturday. I wouldnt be over hopeful of them giving me a loan after 2/3 years inactivity though. What about finance through a dealer? I might be able to get someone to go guarantor. I dont really wanna go the HP route as i would have to purchase a car for over 10k and im looking for about half of that.
